At The Eye Institute, we are dedicated to offering skilled, caring eye care for your entire family. Routine and preventative eye exams play a key role in keeping your eyes healthy. Many patients tell us they didn’t notice any symptoms before an issue was found during their exam. Our licensed optometrist can catch early signs of eye or vision problems, allowing us to discuss treatment options that can often restore or protect your sight. The American Optometric Association suggests annual or biennial eye exams, based on your risk factors.
Request an AppointmentEye Exam and Consultation
During your eye exam, our doctors will talk with you about any symptoms you’re experiencing, the medications you take, any blurry vision, your work setting, and overall health. We’ll also review your family history and past eye or vision conditions. All this helps us tailor the best care and recommendations for you.
Vision Testing
Keeping your vision clear is important. Our Wayne optometrist will perform vision acuity tests using standard wall and reading charts. These results, shown as a fraction like 20/20, let us know how well each eye sees at different distances. Depending on your results, corrective lenses, contact lenses, or eye exercises might be suggested.
Eye Function Testing
Beyond vision clarity, we check how your eyes work together. Tests include depth perception, color vision, eye muscle strength, peripheral vision, and light response. These simple but thorough exams help us spot any issues with focus or coordination.
Eye Health
We also carefully inspect your eyes and eyelids with magnification and bright light. To look inside your eyes, we may dilate your pupils. Measuring eye pressure with tonometry helps us detect glaucoma risk. After all tests, your doctor will review findings with you and discuss any needed treatments.
